23-Aug-2011:
I
drove
along
Fitzroy
Street
this
morning
and
was
surprised
to
see
that
all
the
scrolled
supports
have
been
removed
as
the
new
poles
are
being
commissioned
with
straight
cross-arms.
This
work
is
being
undertaken
overnight
Mon-Wed
nights
this
week.
I
find
this
interesting
as
I
was
told
on
several
occasions
whilst
photographing
the
recent
tram
works
that
the
poles
would
be
replaced
and
new
mouldings
applied
to
their
bases
to
simulate
the
old
poles,
but
that
the
overhead
supports
would
be
refurbished
and
retained.
So
"something
old,
something
new"
as
W7.1015
rolls
along
Fitzroy
Street,
St
Kilda
(D2.5002
is
in
the
background
outbound
on
a
96).
