03-Jan-1998:  Time, like sands in the hour glass, is running out for the block sand train from Lang Lang AGS to Spotswood.  Here P23 shunts sand wagons back into ACI.  In less than two weeks' time, 14 Jan 1998 in fact, W98/102 will announce the cancellation of the thrice-weekly block sand train, the last train running on Sat 17 Jan 1998.  The siding was closed on the following Thursday.
